Each year, MASC recognizes our state’s finest student councils, principals, and advisors.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Note<\/strong>: The advisor and principal awards must be submitted through the region, so schools should submit their applications to the regional advisor\/president by the regional deadline (not the MASC deadline).\u00a0 Schools that do not have a regional student council should submit applications directly to MASC.<\/p>\n

These awards are only open to MASC member schools.<\/span>\"\"<\/a>
\nAll award applications are online only!
\nNO HARD COPY applications will be accepted.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Hint:\u00a0<\/strong> As applications are via Google Forms with file uploads, it is best for regions\/schools to use a non-school device\/internet when completing the form.\u00a0 Some school systems will block file uploads to\u00a0 Google Forms outside of their school system.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/strong><\/em>The\u00a0Felix\u00a0Simon\u00a0Student\u00a0Council\u00a0Awards<\/span>\u00a0for Leadership and Service highlight the MASC member councils that are truly remarkable.\u00a0 \u00a0MASC is presenting your council with not only a challenge but also an opportunity to grow and improve through self-evaluation.\u00a0 \u00a0To effectively honor student councils, there are separate middle and high school applications for the Awards.\u00a0 Student councils will be recognized with a Felix Simon Award for Leadership and Service based on predetermined point values.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

*** National Association of Student Councils (NASC) Awards <\/strong><\/em>****<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

National Council of Excellence:<\/a> middle-level<\/u> and high school student councils<\/span><\/strong> that consistently provide quality leadership activities and service to their schools and communities can earn national recognition through the NatSuCo National Council of Excellence program.<\/h4>\n
\n

There are two levels of recognition. A student council achieves a National Council of Excellence Award when it has demonstrated that it meets all the NASC requirements. The National Gold Council of Excellence award is awarded to those councils that demonstrate the highest levels of leadership, plus meet additional standards as set by NASC.<\/p>\n

These awards distinguish outstanding student councils by guiding student leaders and their faculty advisers through a process featuring standards-based criteria and demonstration-based outcomes, reflecting more than 80 years of expertise in student council and leadership programming.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Distinguished Student Leader Program<\/a><\/h3>\n

National Student Council\u2019s Distinguished Student Leaders Program is a rigorous and challenging skill and knowledge-based recognition program created to identify outstanding individual student council leaders in high schools<\/strong>. Students who earn the NatStuCo Distinguished Student Leader designation have demonstrated exemplary leadership abilities. The Distinguished Student Leaders is open with the caveat that applications must be submitted before the student\u2019s graduation date.<\/p>\n

Emerging Student Leader Program<\/a><\/h3>\n

Great leaders are not born\u2014they practice\u2014and the best practice starts early. With the National Student Council\u2019s Emerging Student Leader program, middle-level students<\/strong> have their own recognition program that identifies outstanding student council leaders who have made significant strides in developing their skills as young leaders. Students who earn the Emerging Student Leader designation have shown strong leadership aptitude and a willingness to continue improving. The Emerging Student Leaders for the middle level is also open as it is managed on-site by advisors.<\/p>\n
