Free State PTA


Bio: Juliana Fay C. Thompson is a senior in the Communication Arts Program at Montgomery Blair High School in Montgomery County, Maryland. In MASC, she serves as the Publications Coordinator, Student Representative to the Free State PTA, and a member of

the MD Civic Excellence Program Regulations Workgroup, as well as a certified workshop presenter. Concurrently, she serves as a Legislative Affairs Deputy to the Montgomery County Regional Student Government Association (MCR), dedicating her leadership to supporting her community.

Throughout her term, Juliana Fay aims to maximize MASC’s impact and broaden student involvement. She is committed to expanding the organization’s statewide reach, growing membership, and helping more student councils get involved.

Outside of student government, Juliana Fay enjoys staying active, traveling, and exploring new cultures, as well as spending quality time with her family and friends.

MYAC (Maryland Youth Advisory Council)

Serving year two of a two-year term representing MASC on MYAC: Arpita Vijay and Peter Jin


Bio: Arpita Vijay is a junior at Walter Johnson High School in Montgomery County, Maryland. In the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, she works with the Community Initiatives Committee to enhance communication with youth across the state and host various events, like the Community Conversation and county-wide town halls. Moreover, she is passionate about empowering young people to be civically engaged, which is why she is involved with several organizations focused on student-led advocacy.

One of Arpita’s goals for her second year in MYAC is to closely connect its members to MASC’s Civic Engagement Committee and execute meaningful projects to benefit the state as a whole.

Beyond advocacy, Arpita enjoys watching sitcoms, reading mystery books, and visiting new places.

Bio: Peter Jin is a senior at James M. Bennett High School in Wicomico County, Maryland. As an appointed member of the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, Peter takes pride in advocating for his fellow young Marylanders and engaging the youth in public service and STEM education.

He is the founder of Bridge to STEM Academy, a free summer program that teaches middle and high schoolers from across the globe STEM research fundamentals. For three years, he has also been a student executive director of Classics for a Cause, an annual concert that has raised tens of thousands of dollars for free instruments, scholarships, and music lessons for underserved music students.
Outside of advocacy, Peter enjoys surfing, baking artisan bread, doing research, playing piano, and trying new things.
