School Safety Tip Line Campaign Kick Off Event

MASC has been invited, along with the Maryland Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC), to attend the School Safety Tip Line Campaign Kick Off Event.

Event Date: Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  Time 12:30–4:00 p.m.  (lunch/refreshments provided for students at 12:30 p.m.)

This event is sponsored by the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) at their headquarters in Reisterstown. (5401 Rue Saint Lo Drive, Reisterstown, MD 21136 {1-877-636-2872})  The mission of MEMA is “To ensure that Maryland families, communities, and key stakeholders are provided the tools they need to prepare for, mitigate against, respond to, and recover from the consequences of emergency and disaster events.

Governor Larry Hogan will start off the event by addressing the press and those present.  A high school principal, a selected student, Maryland State Department of Education Dr. Karen Salmon, MEMA’s Executive Director, and other staff at the Governor’s discretion, will also speak.

After a question and answer period, students will be invited to tour the facility while a small selected group of students meets directly with the Governor for a roundtable discussion.

MEMA has requested that MASC has 75 students in attendance….so basically, we are the major stakeholders in the audience!  If we exceed the requested 75 and are asked to limit how many students attend,  MASC reserves the right to select representation from around the state and respectfully deny some students from a region that may already have many students attending.

PLEASE check your calendars and get the permission/emergency form signed.  As this is during the school day, a principal’s (other administrator’s)  signature is required in addition to the parental permission.  A letter of excused absence (field trip) will be sent immediately after the event.

• Permission/Emergency Form (PDF File  OR Word Version)  BRING THE SIGNED FORM TO THE EVENT.  Mrs. Crawford will collect it.

Also, complete this SHORT google form to RSVP your intent to attend. (link to event registration)
